By Lizzie Wright
For those of you that have got a bug for skiing and still haven’t booked any ski trips this season, here are the top 5 ski resorts in the world to visit.
Whistler Blackcomb, Canada
Whistler Blackcomb is one of the most famous ski resorts in the in world. Located less than 80 miles north of Vancover, this resort was originally converted for the 1968 Winter Olympics bid and has been open for almost 50 years. The huge heights of the mountains form the largest ski resort in North America, which means miles upon miles of beautiful ski slopes to enjoy.
Kitzbuhel, Austria
Kitzbuhel is another world famous resort, it is the home of one of the hardest World Cup ski runs on the calendar, the Hahnenkamm. The resort is known as the ‘Pearl of the Alpes’ and is over 700 years old (although skiing only began here in 1892). If you are looking for an alpine resort with a lot of charm as well as great skiing, then Kitzbuhel is perfect.
Chamonix, France
This is one of the best luxury resorts in the Alpes, it offers visitors so much in terms of skiing and the ski resort itself. Located on the tallest peak in the Alpes, Mont-Blanc has it benefits. It has one of the world’s longest ski runs which is 13.7 miles long and is also considered as the capital of all-mountain skiing. The resort has the honour of being the very first to host the Winter Olympics back in 1924.
Zermatt, Switzerland
This is one of the best ski resorts Switzerland has to offer, not just for skiing but also mountaineering. Zermatt is extremely well known for its famous mountaineering routes including the Haute Route which leads to Chamonix in France. It’s not just about the mountaineering though, the resort has ski runs for everyone with snow-sure ski slopes from November through until April.
Aspen, USA
One of the best America has to offer. Located in Colorado this resort attracts skiers and snowboarders alike to its impressive ski areas. There are 4 different skiing areas around the resort that offer skiing for all experience levels, including a low altitude family ski area known as Buttermilk. The ski resort itself is easy to get to as it has a convenient airport just on the edge of town, which means more time skiing and less time travelling.
Ski season is an exciting time of year and all skiers and snowboarders want to do is make the most of it by hitting the slopes for as long as possible. Minimising travel is one of the best ways of getting the most out of your ski holidays and private jets can help you do just that! You can arrange private jet flights to take you to smaller airfields closer to your destination so your transfer times are cut dramatically, allowing you more precious time on the slopes.
