Healing With Health, Love, and Soul: An Interview with Yovanna Madhere

Yovanna Madhere, LMSW, LGSW, is more than a therapist—she’s a force of healing, hope, and transformation. As the founder of YovannaRocks Personal Development Services and the visionary behind Health.Love.Soul, she has dedicated her life to guiding women and families through the valleys of anxiety, depression, self-worth struggles, and generational trauma. Blending the clinical expertise of a therapist, the motivation of a coach, and the dynamic presence of a speaker, Yovanna has built a reputation for helping others not just survive life’s challenges but step fully into their purpose.

With a deep commitment to empowering women of color who too often feel unseen or unheard, she reminds her clients and audiences alike that healing is possible—and that no one has to walk the journey alone. From private practice to national stages, Yovanna’s message is one of resilience, grace, and love. Her philosophy is clear: true success is not about grinding harder, but about aligning deeper—with self, with purpose, and with soul.

In this conversation, Yovanna opens up about what sets her apart, the lessons she’s learned, and the legacy she hopes to leave behind: one of love, empowerment, and the belief that even our broken pieces can shine. Let’s meet her…

How did you get to where you are today? When you look back, what time period of your life do you consider the starting part of your journey and why?

My journey didn’t start with success. It started with survival. In my 20s, I made a decision: my story would not end in pain, but in purpose. That was the spark. From there, I walked into recovery, education, and ultimately a career in social work, therapy, coaching, and speaking. Every chapter since has been about transforming wounds into wisdom and using my voice to help others do the same.

Where did you grow up? Summarize your childhood in four words.

Miami, Florida. Colorful. Chaotic. Resilient. Rooted.

What do you think sets you apart from others in your field and makes you stand out?

I don’t just teach transformation. I’ve lived it. I bring the clinical expertise of a therapist, the motivation of a coach, and the stage presence of a speaker, but what truly sets me apart is compassion born from experience. My audiences don’t just get information; they feel hope, humor, and healing wrapped in one.

Can you share a defining moment in your personal journey that shaped the way you now guide women and families through healing and growth?

One defining moment came nearly 20 years ago when I committed to my own healing and recovery journey. That decision taught me resilience, self-compassion, and the truth that transformation is possible for anyone who chooses it. Today, when I guide women and families, I’m not speaking from theory alone—I’m standing on lived experience. I know the courage it takes to heal, and that allows me to walk beside others with both empathy and conviction.

Tell us about a time you felt overwhelmed. How did you pivot over or around this hurdle?

My most overwhelming season was living through addiction. Almost 20 years ago, I made the bold choice to get clean, a decision that saved my life. Recovery taught me discipline, humility, and how to rebuild piece by piece. That journey gave me not just freedom, but a deep well of compassion I now pour into my clients and audiences. Today, when I stand on a stage or sit with a client, I bring the hard-won truth that healing is possible, no matter how far gone it feels.

How do you balance your professional career and personal/family life?

I believe in harmony, not hustle. I don’t chase “work-life balance”. I create rituals,

boundaries, and soulful pauses that keep me grounded in Health, Love, and Soul. My family knows they are my heartbeat, and my clients know they get me at my best because of that.

In a world that constantly glorifies hustle culture, how do you help women redefine success in a way that honors both their purpose and their peace?

I’ve learned that success without peace is still a form of poverty. I help women step away from measuring worth only by productivity and instead anchor their lives in alignment. That looks like prioritizing rest, honoring boundaries, and celebrating progress rather than perfection. Grace gives us room to breathe, create, and thrive in ways that hustle never could.

What is one lesson you have learned along the way?

Grace is greater than grind. I’ve learned that true success is not about doing more; it’s about being more aligned with who you really are.

As a Black Latina woman in the mental health space, you’re creating safe spaces where many women finally feel seen and heard. What challenges have you faced in carrying that mantle, and how do you stay grounded while advocating for those who feel invisible?

I am a Black Latina woman of Caribbean ancestry in mental health, and I’ve often felt the pressure of carrying representation on my shoulders. There are times I’ve been underestimated or dismissed. What keeps me grounded is remembering that my presence creates possibility for others—that another woman might finally feel seen because I’m in the room. I lean on prayer, community, and intentional self-care to stay rooted while holding space for others.

When it comes to breaking cycles of generational trauma, what are some of the biggest patterns you see women struggling with, and what practical steps can they take to begin rewriting those narratives for themselves and their families?

Many women I serve struggle with people-pleasing, perfectionism, and silence—patterns often passed down through generations of survival. I encourage them to begin rewriting these stories by practicing self-advocacy, setting boundaries, and voicing their truth in safe spaces. Healing starts with awareness, and then it grows with small but consistent acts of choosing themselves. That’s how cycles begin to break.

At the end of the day, what matters most to you at your core?

Love, always. Love of self, love of family, and love poured into my work. Connection and purpose are what make all the late nights, the big dreams, and the risks worthwhile.

What do you want your legacy to be?

I want people to say: Yovanna helped me believe in myself again. She showed me that even the broken pieces can shine, that healing and success can go hand in hand, and that women deserve to live with confidence, softness, and soul. That’s the crown I want to leave behind.

If you could leave women reading this interview with one powerful truth to hold onto when life feels heavy, what would it be—and why?

If I could leave one truth, it’s this: you are already enough. Life will try to convince you that you need to earn your worth, but your value is inherent. Hold onto that truth when the world feels heavy. Because when women believe they are enough, they rise with a power that heals not only themselves but generations after them. That’s the legacy of love I want to leave.
