Kiersten Kindred is an author, public speaker and founder of Kindred Communications, a full service media & communications firm, which helps businesses define, build and market their brands. With her book, Five Steps to Marketing Success: A Small Business Guide, Kiersten tackles innovative marketing strategy. She learned during her own journey that building a business isn’t light work and it takes time and knowledge to make things happen. Lets meet her.

How do you define a success when it comes to a brand and what problem is KC (Kindred Communications) solving for small business owners? Summarize your services and tell us about one success story with a business owner or brand and a major accomplishment with them.

I think that one can define success with a brand when people begin to recognize it.
Kindred Communications helps medium-sized business owners and solopreneurs (we no longer serve small business owners) define their brand. Businesses sometimes neglects branding and skips to advertising or marketing; we assist those owners in efficiently managing their brand and getting it out to their target audience.

Kindred Communications is a communications/media firm that helps medium-sized businesses and solopreneurs with defining and managing their brand. We specialize in communications, marketing, branding, community relations/engagement, career services, media relations and entertainment.

One of the biggest accomplishments that we have had was helping a nonprofit client get the word out about their fundraiser helping children learn how to read. It was rewarding and a great opportunity to see the community grow.

Once a business owner has the knowledge, there is still action required on their part as well as times when it still may not work. What do you say to that entrepreneur who has put all the steps into place and still feels like that are not successful?

Never give up and always believe in yourself when no one else does.

What are some investments in their business and themselves, should business owners be prepared to make in order to build their brand?

Business owners should be prepared to invest A LOT of time into their business. It requires work and consistency, not just money.

How long did it take you to reach that level and then want to share your knowledge with others or is it a work in progress?

I will always consider myself a work in progress, and I think that others should too. You stop growing when you stop learning. I advise to never stop growing.

The biggest hurdle in launching and building my business was gaining my audience. I had to do a lot of research on my target audience and invest a good amount of time learning exactly what they like.

Tell us about your book and its target audience.
My new book “Five Steps to Marketing Success: A Small Business Guide” is a guide for small businesses and even large corporations. It helps business owners learn the key marketing tactics and strategies to help their business grow. In my book, I reveal the marketing strategies that people have to spend a ton of money to learn or hours of research to gain insight. Readers will learn how to establish and define their brand, craft a winning marketing plan, build a captivating marketing kit, gain insight into marketing strategies and take action!

How do you hope to expand your brand in the future?

I would like for my branding workshops to be conducting all over the world and continue to help communities grow by helping entrepreneurs and businesses.

Outside of your business endeavors, who is Kiersten and what is the legacy you want to leave on the minds of those you have worked with?

Kiersten Kindred is a 20-something millennial passionate about branding, communications and media. I want to leave legacy of helping others build successful communities.

Before college did you have a clear vision on your major and what direction you wanted to go after graduation? Did those original goals change during the process or since?

Before graduating college, I wanted to be an Entertainment Reporter and Columnist, and I was able to do that after graduating. While I do like reporting, I love helping people more. I enjoy being my own boss and writing books. My plans have changed since college, but not too far, I still am in my field and I love it.
