WHO IS SHE? – Terryn Horton-Morton

Terryn Horton-Morton is combining faith and fairytales to showcase timeless testimonies and the ups and downs of a walk of faith. Let’s meet her…

When did you start your blog and share with our readers the concept of a “Modern Day Faitherella” and what inspired it.

I started my blog in 2014, right after I had my third son. I was always a writer and always wrote poetry for family and friends, but I did not think about blogging until a co-worker brought it up. I tell very detailed and entertaining stories about my life’s ups and downs. My son was born 10 weeks prematurely, and I had so many things to say about the experience and lessons learned from my life. Blogging came naturally, but I did not have a focus for it. I was just writing my thoughts and my opinions. I did not get to the purpose until after I meditated on my word for the morning, and the holy spirit told me to talk about my life in a devotional way. I then started writing with a focus on how God brought me through my life’s hills and valleys, with bible verses to address those different time periods. Then my blogging became the healing balm, I needed to ensure my God’s purpose was being played out in my life-I immediately knew this was direction of my posts and knew this would not only help me but help other women as well. The Holy spirit also allowed me to remember how I adored Fairytales and how much the stories played a part in who I became as a woman, I had to then allow those stories to be interwoven into my ever-changing story of faith. I then was able to have God’s vision play out in my life in such colorful and beautiful ways, I knew my story was not just a simple one-it was one that embodied faith and fairytales. The happily ever after came once I fully trusted God as the author of my life.

Where did your love of poetry begin? Is there a faith based them to your poetry?

I have always written poetry for special occasions and events for my family. It has always come naturally to write verse after verse, with rhyme. The faith based happened a few years ago, during the shutdown, and suddenly I found myself writing my story through rhyming verse, with faith and fairytales as the focus. I started sending these out every Sunday to give people a encouraging yet thought provoking message to start off their work week. I adore writing faith based everything. God gives me the message early Sunday morning and the words flow out of me.

It’s been a few years since you published your book, but there is no expiration date on inspiration so can you give us a brief summary of the book. What do you want the impact of your book to have in the lives of the people who read it?

My book named, “Their Innocence, My Hustle, Our Growth” is a rag to riches journey in the realm of faith. This book describes how two evil step siblings, Vanity and Pride, did their best to bring about the destruction of the heroine, “Faitherella.” But God saw fit to show Faitherella that the impossible is made possible through faith. The fairytale could begin to come true once she fully trusted God and in herself while tackling a past betrayal which provided a lesson to help the heroine understand her Godly purpose.

As far as impact on my readers, I just strive for this book to empower women to strive for more than the pumpkin life that we a lot of times are served. I want women to remember what its like to have a dream of faraway places and exciting new lands. My first book is the first installment of the ever-changing life of faith. God has provided me the story within my testimony that we all deserve our fairytale ending. We deserve our happily ever after. This is only found in trusting and believing that there is a divine design for all the craziness we go through. But the amazing destiny is still yet to come.

Any plans for your next book?

My next book will debut by the end of this year. It is called “A Modern Faitherella Story!” Keep a look out.

How does faith in all areas of your life provide the foundation for not only your business endeavors but your family and plans for yourself?

I did not grow up in a church going family. I knew of God but did not have a relationship with Him until I joined the Gospel choir at school. This was my first dose of what faith looked like and the people of the faith community as well. I felt the pull more and more as I grew up but did not truly understand and give my life to God until I was 26. Every day since that time, God has lovingly shown me who I am through His eyes which allowed for my faith and trust to grow expeditiously. Faith has taught me that I am more than what this world would say I am, faith has guided me through the loss of loved ones and loss of myself in those times too. Faith grounds me to the purpose that is me in the first place, I am not here because of happenstance. Faith has allowed me to pursue opportunities in building my own brand and business where I never imagined myself being an Authorpreneur. Faith is what helps me be more in tune with my role as a wife and a mother because it opens my spiritual eye to the legacy that needs to be fulfilled rather than the temporary ups and downs of figuring who I am for these beautiful creatures I am blessed to be tied to. Lastly faith is what links me to the value and the beauty of who I am because I know who’s I am.

What inspires and motivates you?

I am inspired by the walking miracles I get to witness daily. My family, my friends, and my church sisters allow me to be authentically myself. I am motivated by the realizing that I have come so far and grown so much, not by my own might but God’s. I am inspired by my family history, which I love hearing about. I am inspired when I see my loved ones overcome major obstacles. I am inspired when I meditate on the word, and suddenly God reveals to me how it applied to a certain area of my life. This is motivation to build on these things and make the future better.

As you look back over the different seasons of your life and the role your faith played in it, what is one lesson you have learned through the journey?

One major Lesson learned is to not take my life for granted. I am the product of great people of faith who forged major change to allow me to be who I am and pursue opportunities that are not given to everyone. It’s my turn to take the faith lamp and run with it.

What do you like to do outside of your writing?

Outside of writing, I love watching historical movies, reading Christian Fantasy books, attending festivals and any outdoor concerts with my husband and boys, traveling with them as well, planning events, and spending time with my best girlfriends. Oh and of course I love to shop. LOL
