CWM chatted with Nicole Moreno-Deinzer, the Founder and CEO of Epifania Magazine and Marketing Guru at A La Mode Branding where she shows businesses how to shine online. Let’s meet her.
Tell us how your magazine, Epifania Magazine came to be.
Before the magazine, I was blogging on and off. When I went into graduate school, we had to work on a business and the magazine was a great transition. I wanted to expand the reach, and the content, so instead of writing about my life, I wanted to write content for women. In 2018, its transition to a Latina lifestyle magazine, and the team started to build organically.
How does the YouTube show of the same name expand the magazine’s reach and goals?
The YouTube show allows us to reach more people. It adds a visual component to the magazine. I love it, cause we add video creators with unique voices.
Why was it important to you to create a publication representing your Latina heritage? What was missing from the magazine world?
Latina is such a broad term. It is a very US word and it’s meant to describe multiple nationalities, generations, and ethnicities. I wanted to showcase the US Latina with all its complexities and not focus on stereotypes. We are not a fetish and we are not one thing.
I know your team is located all across the country, but where are you based?
I am currently based in Los Angeles, California. I was born and raised in Northern California and lived in Oakland for several years.
Tell us about A La Mode Branding.
A La Mode Branding came to be in 2020. I approached another Latina consultant and asked if she would be interested in starting a company. I felt for my freelance work to continue, and to survive the pandemic, I had to do something different. So now three years in, we have worked with several solo entrepreneurs on their personal brands.
Tell us about your most popular service.
Brand building. A lot of people lose focus on their personal stories. They tend to focus on their products or sales, but they don’t know how to position themselves.
What is life at home like?
Well it’s just me, my husband, and our cat. We both work from home and have high-stress careers. So we spend our weekends, hiking, exploring LA, and hanging out with family, friends, and talking to our nieces. I believe the home should be a calm place.
Tell us about your podcast Relate & Elevate.
We acquired that podcast from another Latina podcaster. The podcast is where you can hear multiple Latinas/Latinx entrepreneurs’ stories.
What’s up next for you?
Taking these businesses to the next level and ssh…working on a novel.
Anything to add?
Big book nerd. A perfect day is a cute cafe and a book.
