Everyday Spirit — Filling Yourself with the Holiday Spirit All Year Round
Over the next couple of weeks, you will be seeing a lot of articles on the holiday spirit, getting through the holidays stress free, and what gifts to purchase for loved ones.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if this year, you let the joy and the true spirit of this joyous season carry forward and stay with you the entire year? It is easier than you think. Take a moment and relive your favorite holiday memory. Remember how you felt and experience that joy all over again. Now, I suggest every time you move into feelings of stress, not enough, lack, struggle, etc, you pause and embrace that joyful feeling.
I also suggest bringing into your everyday life what you love about the holiday season. Write down three aspects of this time of year that make you smile and fill your heart with joy. Then connect to your Soul and ask yourself, “How can I bring this more into my daily life?”
Below are a few of my favorite things and my intention for incorporating them into the rest of my year.
Boxes, Packages, and Bags
I love to give presents. Every year, my brother and I exchange a present as soon as we see each other on Christmas Eve, much to my mother’s dismay. I believe that presents should be a year-round occasion. So my intention is to offer more gifts of love to my family, friends and clients. This could be a card, a small journal, a cup of coffee, etc. It’s just a way of showing the people that I love in my life that I appreciate them.
My intention is also to give more to others that are in a different position than I’m experiencing. For me, it is important not just to donate during this time of year but always donate. If finances are a challenge at the moment, donate old clothes, time, bake cookies for the local food bank. There is always a way to share and give.
I’m also including myself in this intention. If we are expressing scarcity with ourselves, then how can we expect to receive or give fully to others?
Fah who for-aze! Dah who dor-aze!
The above is a chorus of the song that the Whos sing in How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I love it! I also love to sing (which I’m not very good at but I don’t care). Singing brings me joy. So everyday I’m going to turn up the radio and sing a little louder. Singing helps you clear your throat chakra and helps you be confident speaking your truth. I know that this intention will help me create a deeper connection with my truth and allow me to express myself in a more profound way.
Deck The Halls
Everything can look so beautiful and festive during this time of year. Why should my house only look sparkling and beautiful from November to January? Stepping into a house that smells like cinnamon and looks inviting will take the stress out of the day. Create a sacred experience in your home. You don’t have to put a lot of effort into it. You can start simple by keeping a pot of cinnamon and clove on the stove with water, and when you come home, put the burner on and prepare to relax.
Every moment of every day is a new opportunity for you to live the joy of life. It is up to you to intend that experience.
