Connected Conversations with Teri Watters

terimain

Teri Watters, is a wife, mother, blogger, mentor and stay-at-home mom with a clear vision about her path and purpose in life. By finding her own balance and best life she hopes to encourage others to do the same. Her families well-being is everything to her but she is no doubt her own woman on a constant journey of discovering herself.

Who is Teri , the woman at her core

Teri is a woman who enjoys being a woman, not afraid to explore new things, grateful for her family, created to be an influencer, and lover of God.

Tell us about your family/pets?

I am a wife of five years to Josh and mommy to two active, funny, intelligent and independent toddler girls. We recently got the girls fish pets, Pinky and Mango.

What was your major in college?

Communication Analysis & Practice at The Ohio State University, which is a little bit of marketing and research.

Tell us about a typical day?

I am a stay-at-home mom, so most days I am finding ways to keep my children entertained, squeezing in some learning time, scheduling play dates, maintaining my house for my family and finding time to blog and have ME time. This usually happens once the kiddos are off to bed and I have my bowl of stove-popped popcorn.

Besides being a stay-at-home mom, what other activities do you fit into your week?

I serve on the worship team and children’s ministry at my church, both of which I really enjoy. It allows me to connect with like-minded people. I also am a role model in my community with an organization that looks to empower young girls to love who they are and embrace being a girl. I recently began assisting a friend, who is an event planner, coordinating fabulous weddings.

Do you ever feel overwhelmed or question your decision to stay home?

There are days where I absolutely feel overwhelmed, but I am able to lean on the strength and grace of God to get me through those days. My days of feeling overwhelmed don’t last long because my children always find a way to make me laugh and remember why I am a SAHM. My husband is supportive, so when I need a moment to get rejuvenated, he gives that to me. I have not questioned my decision to stay home because I know that it is exactly what I should be doing at this particular moment.

While mentoring in your local community, what major issues have you found young girls to be struggling with?

Self-image. No question about it. Young girls are extremely caught up in looking like what they see in the media, especially social media. They have unrealistic views on what a girl should be and are often too busy thinking about their male counterpart than embracing their girlhood.

What is a favorite spot for family time?

My home; in the living room and on the couch. All four of us. We just want to be near each other and watching one of the girls’ favorite shows or a movie on Netflix.

Self-care is always important. What do you do to take care of Teri?

I allow myself to have quiet time where I’m not doing anything for anyone. Sometimes I will hit up a girlfriend and schedule some girl time out of the house just for a breath of fresh air. Growing up I saw many women who failed to take moments for themselves, which caused stress to almost kill them. I don’t believe life should be lived that way. Always take time out for you so that when it is time to give of yourself, you will be able to give your best.

What is your favorite music genre? TV Show?

Gospel music. I don’t watch much TV, but when I indulge, my guilty pleasure is reality TV.

If money were no expense where would you go?

Curacao with my spouse and friends then South Africa with the family. We will get to both of these places one day!

What brings you joy?

Knowing that my family is happy and taken care of and on a path that is being directed by God. That is my current assignment and I am doing my best to make sure that remains true.

What are you currently (or the last) reading?

Lisa Bevere’s Girls With Swords and 52 Things I Learned About God From My Kids by Kizmin Millben Jones.

What makes you a connected woman?

I’m a connected woman because I love people and want to see them living the best life possible. I created my blog because people often ask me life questions. Some related to kids, relationships, and purpose. I enjoy helping others and look for opportunities to do so. I also enjoy being able to share my journey and encourage women to live in their assignment.

What five words summarize your passion?

The Family Is The Center

Where can our readers reach out to you?

My blog, MommyWifeLife.com, Twitter and Instagram @MommyWifeLife1, and on Facebook.com/mommywifelifeblog.

What long-term goals do you have for your blog?

I want my blog to be the place people come to to get resources and be inspired about homeschooling their children. I want women to also come to the blog for a sense of community, learning about amazing family-friendly products, as well as asking life questions and as a community, us learn together.
